BlueLine BBQ is a Georgia-based Barbecue Competition Team. We normally compete in Georgia Barbecue Association (GBA) sanctioned events.

Our competition team was formed in 2007, when we entered our first barbecue competition. This event, the Hambone Jam, was the first Georgia Barbecue Association competition. Even though this was the 2nd Annual Hambone Jam, it was the first year of the contest being officially sanctioned.

While each team member had cooked various types of barbecue before, we entered that first contest as inexperienced rookies. We had a good time and became hooked. The Hambone Jam has been officially recognized as the Georgia Barbecue Association State Championship, being officially recognized by the Georgia General Assembly.

In 2008, we entered a non-sanctioned event held at Harvey’s Supermarkets in Fort Valley, GA. This event, the John Boy and Billy’s Backyard Grilling Contest, provided us the opportunity to enter our selection of ribs. For our troubles, we took a third place in this contest.

In 2008, we competed in the 3rd Annual Hambone Jam in Fort Valley. Thirty days prior to the event, then GBA President A.K. Saville approached team member John David Anderson and explained to him that the Hambone Jam had only 5 teams signed up and was on the verge of being cancelled. An emergency team meeting was held, and BlueLine BBQ agreed to take over as the event organizer for this event. During the next 30 days, we were able to recruit 25 more teams to finish the event with 30 teams. During this event, BlueLine BBQ took 3rd place in pulled pork, 3rd place in pork loin, 6th place in sauce and 16th in ribs.

In 2008, we also competed in the 1st Annual Pigs 'N' Wings in Perry, GA. Over 15 teams braved freezing temperatures on Friday night while cooking. A sunny Saturday saw temperatures rise to bring a nice day to Middle Georgia. Several different airplane owners groups conducted fly-ins to the Perry/Houston County airport. During this event, BlueLine BBQ took 1st place in sauce, 4th place in Brunswick Stew, 5th place in pulled pork, 6th place in ribs, and 7th place in pork loin.
